A. Houck Designs is celebrating a milestone: 15 years in business! And we’ve decided to mark the big occasion by launching this blog. Through Creating Spaces, we will regularly share our latest loves, inspirations and tips. Plus, we’ll give you a sneak peek at our current projects as they take shape. We hope you’ll visit often.
It’s hard to believe we opened our doors 15 years ago. I recently unearthed my first Washington Design Center designer pass, issued in 2000. Look how yellowed and dog-eared it is, compared to my shiny new 2015 badge…tangible proof that A. Houck Designs has been around for a while. I must say, though, I’m glad the older version doesn’t have a photo. I wouldn’t want you all to make that comparison!

My appearance isn’t the only thing that’s changed over the past 15 years. The design scene is constantly evolving, and that’s part of the fun of what we do. I’m like a kid in a candy store (or gal in a shoe store?) when it comes to all the new introductions and beautiful options available, and I look forward to sharing my favorites, as well as some from-the-trenches guidance on how to use them, with you here.
But products and trends come and go, and, when you’ve been around long enough, they even circle back (Burgundy is popular again, but, thanks to Pantone, we call it Marsala now). The one constant we’ve been able to count on over the years is the tremendous support of our loyal clients and industry partners. Thank you for being part of our journey and success. A. Houck Designs received a special anniversary gift earlier this year. We were awarded a 2015 “Best of Houzz” for Customer Satisfaction by Houzz, the leading platform for home design and remodeling. The Customer Satisfaction awards are determined, in large part, by the number and quality of client reviews we received last year. We are so thankful to all those who helped us achieve this special honor.
In time for our anniversary celebration and blog launch, we’ve freshened up our look and website. I hope you’ll click over to our revamped site and then leave a comment below to let us know what you think of the new design.
