This Prospect House condominium—with an enviable view of DC’s monuments—had served as a Florida family’s second home for decades. When the time finally came for a full-gut re-do, the owner called on A. Houck Designs.
She had two main goals for the redesign: to capture the glamour of Old Hollywood and to play up the stunning panorama. After the renovation dust settled, we brought in sleek furnishings, along with a few sexy curves, that recall ’40s-era style. Metallic finishes and lacquered surfaces lend dramatic flair. A palette of soft blues and sophisticated taupes keeps the focus on the view. In the living room, window side panels crafted in a metallic woven textile provide softness, without distracting from the scenery outside either.
This chic retreat welcomes and pampers the out-of-state clan on frequent visits to the nation’s capital.
