When Andrea was invited to design a bedroom for the 2016 DC Design House, she needed a muse to inspire her design and imagined a Parisian teenager, recently transported to Washington, DC, with her diplomatic parents. To feel more at home, the ingénue would want to bring the elegance and style of Paris—along with a dash of girly glam—to her new quarters here.
Our goal was to create a chic, timeless space that a young lady could enjoy for years to come. We combined sophisticated furnishings—such as the tufted headboard and lacquered desk—with other design elements that veered more feminine and playful. We wove a floral motif through the space, from the jubilant wallpaper and crystal pendant to the armoire-door design and the window-panel fabric.
Shades of pink flowed through the design, from the ceiling paint to the custom, cut-velvet bedcover. We introduced sparkle and shine by way of the acrylic-and-glass bedside tables, the rose-quartz-studded drinks table, the acrylic window hardware, and the fabulous pendant. In short, we conjured up a chic, dreamy bedroom space for our Parisian-teenager muse.
