These repeat clients have entrusted us with their whole-house interior design. Over the years, we have transformed almost every room in their Colonial-style home, including the screened porch. While each space has its own personality, a traditional-with-a-twist thread unifies them.
At A. Houck Designs, we always consider a space’s interior architecture at the start of a project. In this case, the living-room fireplace needed an intervention. Our complete overhaul addressed both form and function. We elevated the fixtures and finishes throughout—from washing the study’s built-ins in a caramel-colored glaze to installing a cherry-blossom-adorned sink in the powder-room vanity.
We introduced a palette of elegant neutrals in the foyer and carried it through to the primary suite. Plenty of pattern and texture—supplied through wallpaper, fabrics and rugs—adds interest to the quiet scheme; transitional-style, upholstered furniture populates the spaces. The end result is sophisticated but certainly not stuffy.
