We’re so excited to share with you all that our redesigned website is now live!
Our main goal in revamping the A. Houck Designs website was to make it easier to use — whether you’re accessing it on your desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. We paid particular attention to ensuring that the site displays and functions beautifully on your mobile device (since, for better or for worse, we’re all tied to our phones these days).
We added several new features, from enhanced navigation to extensive client testimonials, and even expanded our Services menu with a new offering! Of course, aesthetics shaped the redesign process, too! The just-launched site also boasts a fresh look and showcases our latest project photography. The star of our homepage is a bold dining room we designed for long-time clients in Bethesda, Maryland.
One of the key navigation changes is that visitors can now sort our Portfolio images by project and by room. Here’s a look at the results you’ll see when you click or tap the “by Project” tab:
I’ve said it before and it still holds true: a large part of my job as an interior designer is to help clients define their tastes and style preferences. So for a long time it made sense to organize our online Portfolio by style – Traditional, Transitional, Modern, and so forth. But, truthfully, most spaces we create nowadays blur those lines and don’t fit squarely in one box. The new navigation makes it easier both to see our project work at a glance and to zoom in on specific rooms of interest. This is what you’ll see when you click or tap the “by Room” tab.
From there you can head over to the new Press+Praise page, where the Press tab takes you to an up-to-date list of our extensive media coverage and the Praise tab opens to a collection of client testimonials. We are so incredibly blessed to have wonderful clients throughout the greater Washington, DC, area who generously sing our praises to their friends and allow us to share their kind, written words on our website. Here’s a glimpse of our new Praise page:
Who better to tell our story than current and past clients? Hover your cursor over any of the boxes (or tap, if you’re using your phone or tablet) to switch from the highlighted quote to the expanded testimonial. Below is an example of an expanded client testimonial on the Praise page.
Under the Services section, you’ll find detailed descriptions of our Full-Service Interior Design and New Construction & Renovation offerings. With the launch of our new website, A. Houck Designs is formally rolling out a new service line: Finishing Touches. We added this description to our Services page:
In our book, a space isn’t finished until the right accessories are in place and the art is hung. And, in the same vein, floral arrangements and a lovely tablescape make any event more memorable. These are just some of the many detail-oriented services we offer under Finishing Touches.
You’ll also see a user-focused change here at Creating Spaces. Under the Blog heading, we’ve added a listing page that provides a featured image, title and excerpt for each past post — giving you a quick snapshot of what the post will be about.
These individual snapshots allow you to easily scroll through our content to find topics that pique your interest (before, posts ran in chronological order in their entirety, so scrolling through them was cumbersome at best).
